Kestel sits 14 km east of Bursa city centre on the main road toward İnegöl. Getting to Kestel means first getting to Bursa — and from there, local transport into the district is quick and inexpensive. Bursa itself is very well connected to Istanbul and the rest of Turkey.
The most scenic and popular way to travel from Istanbul to Bursa is by ferry across the Sea of Marmara. Two main ferry routes operate regularly. IDO ferries run from Yenikapı (European side of Istanbul) to Güzelyalı (Mudanya), and BUDO ferries connect Kabataş to Mudanya terminal. From Mudanya, buses connect to Bursa city centre.
The ferry journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and offers excellent views of the Marmara coastline. It is a comfortable and enjoyable way to travel, popular with both tourists and commuters.

From Sabiha Gökçen Airport (Istanbul's Asian-side airport), a direct bus service by Akmis Seyahat connects the airport to Bursa bus terminal — a convenient option for international arrivals.

The Osmangazi Bridge toll is payable by credit card or HGS/OGS transponder. From the motorway, Kestel is clearly signposted as you approach Bursa from the east.
Driving gives the greatest flexibility for exploring the district, particularly for reaching the Saitabat Waterfall and forested areas that are less accessible by public transport.

Shared minibuses (dolmuş) are a common and inexpensive way to travel between Bursa districts. They run fixed routes and depart when full. Fares are paid to the driver in cash.
Taxis are readily available in central Bursa and provide a direct, comfortable journey to Kestel. The fare from city centre to Kestel is modest. Use official yellow taxis and ensure the meter is running.
Bursa's light rail system (BursaRay) connects key parts of the city. While it does not extend directly to Kestel, it is useful for navigating central Bursa before connecting to onward bus services.
